Free Bible verse templates for church social media
Bible verse posts are consistently among the best-performing content on church social media and can be a real encouragment to those who engage with them. They get shared by congregation members, reach people who would not otherwise see your church’s posts, and require almost no explanation to work - a verse and two sentences of reflection is enough.
The challenge is producing them quickly and consistently without them looking like they were made in a hurry. The templates below are designed for exactly that: readable, clean verse graphics that you can edit with your chosen verse in a few minutes.

The Bible verse picker
ChurchReach has a Bible verse picker built directly into the Design Studio editor. Rather than copying a verse from a separate tab and pasting it into the template, you can search by reference (e.g. “John 3:16”) or keyword (e.g. “peace”, “harvest”, “resurrection”) and insert the verse directly onto the canvas, formatted and ready to use.
Translations available include NIV (Anglicised), NLT, NKJV and KJV. The Anglicised NIV is worth noting specifically - it uses British spelling and phrasing rather than the American edition, which matters more than it might seem when the verse is displayed prominently on a graphic.
Choosing verses that work on social media
Not every verse works equally well as a standalone graphic. The ones that tend to perform best are self-contained - they make sense without the surrounding context - and either consoling, challenging, or surprising enough to make someone pause.
A few that consistently work well for UK church social media: Isaiah 40:31, Psalm 23:1, John 3:16, Romans 8:28, Philippians 4:6-7, Matthew 11:28, Jeremiah 29:11, Lamentations 3:22-23. The familiar ones are familiar because they resonate - there is no need to avoid them in favour of more obscure passages.
The caption matters as much as the verse. Two honest sentences about why this verse is on your mind this week will always outperform a generic “thought for the day” opener. See how to write a Facebook post for your church for more on writing captions that people actually read.
Seasonal verse templates
The general Bible verse templates above work year-round. ChurchReach also has verse templates designed for specific seasons - Advent, Christmas, Easter, Lent - where the visual treatment and suggested verses are matched to the occasion. Those appear in the relevant seasonal template collections as they are published.
